Pallet Wood Night Stand
| February 2021 |
This pair of 18" x 22" x 24" nightstands are made entirely from old wood pallets. The pallets were cut using a jigsaw and Sawzall and then milled to a standard thickness of 5/16" on a planer and jointer. The top has a chevron design showcasing the different types of wood used in the pallets and is approximately 1.5" thick requiring a total of 5 pieces of pallet wood each that were glued together. The bottom slats are made with slightly wider pieces of pallet wood.
The legs are made from 1" tube steel and welded together using a MIG welder and spray painted black. The leg frames are not welded to the front metal trim and instead were designed to lay flat for easier storage and transportation.
To provide additional functionality, a USB Type A port and Type C port with 45W of power delivery were placed on the front. These ports are connected to a power strip mounted under the table. An area under the top was also routed out using a plunge router for a wireless charger. This allows you to charge any QI enabled device by simply placing the device on the nightstand.
