Circular Wall Art

| May 2026 |

These two wall pieces measure roughly 18 inches in diameter and were created to highlight the exquisite grain of Maple, African Mahogany, and Peruvian Walnut. This is my first purely decorative work. Its sole purpose is aesthetic. After browsing Pinterest and iterating on designs, I followed a colleague’s recommendation to apply the rule of thirds and arrived at two related but distinct compositions. The African Mahogany is about 3/16 inch thicker than the Maple and Peruvian Walnut, giving it added depth. To introduce texture, I engraved a pattern in the Mahogany that follows the curves’ flow; I left the Peruvian Walnut smooth to prevent the overall effect from becoming too busy. I finished the pieces with a single coat of Rubio Monocoat Pure.
